Running for Talin
Story
Our thoughts, love, and condolences go to Talin's family during this difficult time xxx
There is less than 1 week left until until Liz, Tim and I take part in the 2012 City2Surf. Our run is dedicated to Talin's unwavering strength and courage. Above all, we wish to honour Talin's memory, his beautiful spirit and kind heart.
All monies raised through this page up until July 17th were directed to Talin’s care and assistance. Any donations made from July 17th on will be directed to assist other children in situations similar to Talin's, for sadly, Talin's illness is not an isolated case.
Please help us to raise our target amount. Any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your generosity...
Liz, Tim and Rhi
Talin is only five years old and attended kindergarten class at Gymea Bay Primary school. Talin lives each day as a happy, playful, sweet and caring boy. As you can imagine, his family is devastated. Not to mention the friends and families around him who’ve all had the privilege to meet him.
Already Talin has experienced rapid deterioration of basic functioning. He now needs to crawl or use a wheel chair to get around as walking is becoming too hard for him. Each day draws more heart ache for the family as they help him deal with nausea, fatigue and extreme headaches. Eating has become difficult, his eyes have trouble focusing and his speech is now slurred and difficult to understand.
In a bid to shrink the tumor and make him more comfortable in his final weeks Talin underwent radiotherapy daily for 6 weeks, however unfortunately this did little to reduce the tumour. His family is with Talin constantly watching him go through what would be every families worst nightmare.
Our wish for Talin’s family is for them to be able to spend as many precious moments with him as possible in his final days of life, without the pressures and financial constraints of everyday life.
Talin’s wish is to feel normal again and to go to school and see his friends.
We hope for a miracle to happen to make all these wishes come true.
What are we doing?
Lizzie, Tim and Rhiannon will be participating in this years City2Surf on Sunday, August 12th. http://www.city2surf.com.au/
Excess funds would be redirected to assist other children in a similar situation to Talin, for sadly, Talin is not an isolated case.
Activity
Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation
The Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation helps those with cancer who, through personal circumstances, need financial, emotional or medical support. There are many people in our society who lack a functional family support network and battle with cancer on their own.
The Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation was established in memory of the late Lynne King, who as a nurse spent much of her life caring for those with cancer. To read more of her story go to www.lyncares.org
